French women don’t get fat, right? Well, that was not the case for me…

While I was born and raised in the Parisian suburbs, and grew up in a relatively healthy household with a French mother who imparted on me all the conventional wisdom of French eating (eat slowly and at regular times, no snacking in between meals, drink water not soda, etc), things took a turn in my adolescence.

At the age of 17, I moved to the US to attend college and just a few months into my freshman year I gained close to 20 pounds, and by the time I graduated I had put on yet another 10. This thirty pound weight gain, which I was totally unprepared for and utterly devastated about, sent me into a downward spiral for the next decade of my life.

For a good 10 years, I lived in hatred of my own body and believed that the only key to happiness and success in life was being thin. So I joined gyms, dieted and counted calories, and even went to such drastic measures where the only food I consumed was fake, processed meal replacements that came out of white paper envelopes. Sure I lost the weight each time I tortured myself in these ways, but only to gain it right back as soon as I stopped exercising as vigorously or started eating like a normal human being again. This constant yo-yo dieting was clearly not working for me. It was time to stop this unhealthy vicious cycle and try a different approach.

It took me a long time to free myself from extreme diets and weight obsession, but I eventually did. What helped me regain my equilibrium was digging deep into myself to uncover the emotional causes of my bad relationship with food and reconnecting with my French upbringing and its pleasurable, natural and sensible approach to food and life. I also finally found a way to recharge my spirit and move my body in a way that I loved, though barre classes. Little by little, I started seeing REAL results—my body changed, my self-confidence improved and I finally regained the balance in my life that I had lost for a decade. And then, I decided to make a career out of it!

I am a Master Social Worker, turned stay-at-home Mom, Bar Method instructor, and healthy eating and lifestyle Coach!

I received my Masters degrees in Social Work and Law & Social Policy from Bryn Mawr College’s Graduate School of Social Work and Social Research in Bryn Mawr, PA in 2006. After working for over 10 years in the youth development and social services fields, I decided to refocus my social work skills and help women live a healthy, happy life, in a body that they love.

My interest in nutrition and holistic health grew out of a personal desire to live a happier and more balanced life, through an improved relationship with food, but most importantly with myself. I received my training as a Health Coach, from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition’s cutting-edge Health Coach Training Program, in 2013.

During my training, I studied over 100 dietary theories, practical lifestyle management techniques, and innovative coaching methods with some of the world’s top health and wellness experts. My teachers included Dr. Andrew Weil, Director of the Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine; Dr. Deepak Chopra, leader in the field of mind-body medicine; Dr. David Katz, Director of Yale University’s Prevention Research Center; Geneen Roth, bestselling author and expert on emotional eating; and many other leading researchers and nutrition authorities.

I am also board certified by the American Association of Drugless Practitioners as a Holistic Health Coach.
